I remember seeing a thread recently about the 116610 having a brushed vs polished clasp but searched and can’t find it. What are the approximate timeframes and dates of the two? Which came first and how long has each been around? After about two years of daily wear on my bluesy I decided to use a Cape Cod on all of my PCL's and on the polished area of the clasp. HUGE improvement. Removed all of the minor scratches, but not the deep ones. I recommend it on any clasp that is polished. I've seen watches that are completely covered and they look dull, the shine is gone. But worth it for the polished clasps found on GMT and gold models. It's just one piece so not noticeable.Regardless of whether you decide to have your Rolex watches serviced by an authorized service center or an independent outlet, make sure you clearly state your preferences on polishing, indicating which parts you want polished and which parts .
The easiest way to tell if a Rolex bracelet has been polished is by looking at the Rolex coronet on the clasp. On many vintage watches, you can see that the coronet has lost its shape and that it has lost a lot of material. Lug thickness is not materially reduced by "overpolishng" unless you rub away with a Cape Cod daily for decades. All that might happen if you got an abrasive cloth and started grinding away is dull the sharpness of some of the edges, as others have said.
When closed, the Rolex Hidden Clasp is only locatable by the coronet logo that sits proudly at the point of fastening. You can find this clasp style on President, Pealrmaster, and Jubilee bracelets, although it is no longer offered as an option on the Jubilee bracelet within Rolex's current lineup. I brushed the bracelet and clasp with a green Scotchbrite pad first to remove deep scratches, and then with 3M Flexible Polishing Papers (which are apparently the method Rolex themselves use to brush their watches).

Can a near factory look be achieved when adding PCL to a brushed clasp? I'm looking to have a glidelock clasp polished but was mainly concerned with the area around and the raised crown getting a factory finish but without rounding the crown out.
